Flourishing Together: Embracing Bold Dreams at iPPL's Inspiring Day

21st March 2026 was a special day for iPPL.
We gathered at Oekozenter Paffendal for our Annual General Meeting and then, after a wonderful shared lunch, an Appreciative Inquiry (AI) afternoon built around the theme Flourishing Together: Belonging, Evidence and Impact.
I've facilitated Appreciative Inquiry in many contexts, and I am always blown away by its rich outcomes. This time, I had the added joy (and challenge!) of being in the room as a participant too, rather than only as a facilitator.
A great start
Before we got to the AI afternoon, we had our AGM — it was straightforward and positive. Laura Lane audited the accounts and confirmed everything was accurate and complete, and the board was unanimously discharged.
But what made the morning truly special was the way our President, Andreea Cimpoesu, chose to start our day together. She invited each of us to select a card from two beautiful sets of evocative images — one to represent where we each are right now, and one to represent our individual intention for the day. As simple as this activity may seem, it had a profound effect. In just a few minutes, we learned something new and real about each other, and the warmth and connection it created set the tone for everything that followed. I am so grateful to Andreea for making this possible. It set the tone for the day.

Discovering our Positive Core
The afternoon opened with the Discovery phase — exploring what gives iPPL its life, strength and energy. What came up was honest and energising.
Our best practices: Bringing theory to life with visible impact; the powerful value of meeting in person; accountability and personal involvement; authenticity; creativity; pride. And woven through all of it, something we all felt strongly about — finding our tribe. Connection and synergy. Common purpose. All for one, one for all.
Our strengths and values filled the poster: broadening skill sets, practical support, perseverance, hope, complementary perspectives, vulnerability, passion for positive psychology, professionalism, credibility, 'fighting spirit', courage, strategic outlook — and being positive deviants.

Dreaming boldly
The Dream phase did exactly what it's designed to do — it opened up our hearts and minds and allowed us to dream big!
We generated lots of exciting ideas - watch this space to see them come to fruition.
One group even created a proper pitch presentation for their Provocative Proposition — providing us with a wonderful display of energy, imagination and a healthy dose of joy.
Themes for our journey
Two phrases emerged that captured the spirit of the day and iPPL's future: Holding Hope & Courage to Change.
Holding Hope will be our guiding theme for the rest of 2026. Courage to Change will carry us through 2027. You'll see and hear more of both in the months ahead.
What we are building — now and beyond
We left the afternoon with a set of clear 'Now' projects — real commitments with named accountability holders. I won't list all the details here (our members will receive those details by email), but we have a clear direction, we could feel the drive and energy in the room, and the work is already underway.
Beyond the immediate projects, we already have the seeds of exciting projects for 2027 and beyond. Our members will be meeting again in November to take those ideas further and commit to clear action plans to shape iPPL's longer-term strategy, develop new initiatives, and work more closely with our local communities. Watch this space!
