Are your words building bridges - or walls?
We spend our lives in conversation, yet so few of us were ever taught how to truly communicate. We get defensive. We shut down. We say things we don’t mean, or fail to say the things we do.
In Positive Psychology, we often refer to the PERMA theory of wellbeing. According to PERMA, there are five key elements that allow us to flourish: Positive Emotions, Engagement, Positive Relationships, Meaning & Mattering, and Accomplishment. We can use specific strategies to maximise each of these components to improve our wellbeing.
Arguably, building and maintaining positive relationships is the most essential of the five PERMA elements. According to neuroscientist Matthew Lieberman, our very survival as a species depends on our connection to other humans. Being able to communicate effectively is a crucial skill when it comes to developing and sustaining healthy relationships in all areas of our lives.
We are delighted, therefore, that Suzanne Karsai has offered to run a Nonviolent Communication workshop for our members and guests.
Nonviolent Communication is a simple, powerful framework that can change the way you connect — with colleagues, loved ones, and yourself.
In this 2-hour interactive workshop, you’ll explore the basics of NVC: how to express your needs more clearly and hear others more fully.
The workshop is led by Suzanne Karsai, Luxembourg-based mediator, trainer, and founding member of iPPL. A dedicated advocate for Nonviolent Communication, Suzanne applies NVC principles across the full spectrum of her mediation practice — family, workplace, and commercial conflicts alike.
